Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 27, 2026
mySLife.net (“mySLife,” “we,” “us”) is an independent Second Life® community site. We intentionally avoid advertising trackers and do not sell your personal data. We only keep what we need to run accounts, host your content, process subscriptions, and moderate abuse.
This notice is written to be readable for residents worldwide, including people in the EU/EEA and UK (GDPR / UK GDPR style transparency). It is not legal advice.
1. Who is responsible (controller)
The controller of personal data processed through myslife.net is the operator of mySLife.net. For privacy requests, contact site staff in-world through the mySLife Official group, or use any contact channel published on the site for that purpose.
If you operate as a named business or sole trader, you can add your legal name and a postal/email contact here later.
2. Who this applies to
Visitors, residents who create an account via our in-world verification flow, and paid subscribers.
3. Information we process
- Account identity: Second Life avatar identifiers and display/legacy name, optional handle and bio, maturity level granted through our verification flow, avatar/banner images you upload or import.
- Session: an essential signed-in session cookie on myslife.net.
- Content you create: posts, stories, images, pages, outfit credits, comments, reactions, follows, and similar community data.
- Billing (if you pay): plan type, period/expiry, payment channel (e.g. PayPal / in-world / Marketplace), and related fulfillment records needed to unlock features — not your full card number (payment providers handle card data).
- Safety: reports, blocks, and moderation/ban records when needed.
- Technical: ordinary web-server logs (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps) may exist briefly for operations, security, and abuse prevention. We do not use them for advertising profiling.
4. Purposes and legal bases (EU/UK)
Where GDPR / UK GDPR applies, we rely on these bases:
- Contract — creating and running your account, showing your content as you intend, and delivering paid plan features you purchase.
- Legitimate interests — securing the service, preventing abuse, basic operational logs, and improving reliability, balanced against your rights.
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
- Consent — only where we ask for it (we do not use non-essential advertising cookies by default).
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal data.
- We do not run third-party ad pixels or marketing analytics suites by default.
- We do not claim ownership of your creative works (see Content & ownership).
6. Sharing / processors
We share data only when needed to operate the service, for example:
- Payment providers (such as PayPal) when you start or manage a USD subscription.
- Hosting / infrastructure providers that store the site and media on our behalf.
- Authorities if required by law or to protect people from serious harm.
Content you mark public is visible to other visitors (subject to maturity gates).
7. Cookies
We use an essential session cookie so you can stay signed in. Under EU/UK cookie rules, strictly necessary cookies generally do not require a consent banner. If we later add non-essential analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.
8. International transfers
mySLife may be hosted and operated outside your country (including outside the EU/EEA/UK). When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards available under applicable law (for example contractual protections with providers) and only process what is needed for the purposes above.
9. Retention
Account and content data remain while your account is active. You may delete posts and edit profile fields in-product. Billing and moderation records may be kept longer for disputes, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. Server logs are rotated in the ordinary course of operations.
10. Your rights (including EU/EEA/UK)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete data (subject to legal/operational exceptions)
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Data portability for data you provided, where applicable
- Withdraw consent where processing was based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise these rights, use the signed-in Contact form or reach site staff in-world through the mySLife Official group. We may need to verify you control the linked Second Life account before acting on a request.
11. Children
mySLife is built for Second Life residents and may include Adult-gated material after in-world Adult verification. It is not directed at children. Do not use the service if you are not allowed to use Second Life under Linden Lab’s terms and applicable law.
12. Your choices
- Edit or delete content you posted (where the product allows).
- Log out to end your browser session.
- Cancel paid subscriptions through the payment provider (see Billing) and/or contact us.
- Request account closure or data questions via the contact channel in section 1.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
This page is informational and not legal advice. For full compliance as a business serving EU residents, consider a lawyer review and publishing a clear legal name / contact address for the controller.
